• Eight-Times-Twenty-Five

Eight-Times-Twenty-Five(1) is a video installation based on multiple subtle optical effects and the use of appropriated video footage. It integrates three different moments in the history of Colombia into a single image. The viewer can see video of a reenactment of the battle of independence from Spain, the immolation of the supreme court in Bogota in 1985 and the ongoing military conflict inside Colombian territories.

(1)The title is a play of numbers; it has been twenty-five years since the immolation of the supreme court in Colombia. Twenty-five multiplied by eight is the number of years since 1810, the year of Colombian independence.
